Nuremberg Chronicle

by Bohdan Iakymets at

Today we want to show you a fascinating engraving of several cities from an old book from 1493 called the "Nuremberg Chronicle", which contains a story about the complete biblical history of mankind and even depicts the end of the world. The work contains 1809 illustrations and is one of the first examples of organic integration of images into text. The engravings depicting Western European cities were unique in their time and captivated many readers.
It is also believed that the authorship of some engravings belongs to the then young Albrecht Durer, but there is no consensus on this issue.
